Andrew Porter Ltd has repurposed an area of its warehouse to provide emergency furniture storage services during the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the forced closure of retailers and many warehouses due to social distancing measures to ease the spread of covid-19, there is a significant amount of stock currently on the water from overseas with nowhere to receive it.
Situated in Chorley, close to Manchester, Andrew Porter Ltd sold its furniture logistics operation two years ago to focus on storage and fulfilment, self storage and specialist relocations for laboratory clients.
However, it has reserved space in its 300,000 sq ft warehouse to accommodate the needs of furniture manufacturers and importers in the current situation.
Managing director Tim Aspey commented: “We were contacted by some of our previous customers in the furniture sector enquiring about storage space and decided it made sense to create a designated area for furniture where we could receive incoming goods and store them for as long as necessary.
“Our team is still fully working, maintaining social distancing measures, as we provide essential services to our laboratory clients.”
